  • 3 New EDGE Faculty awards of $650
  • 2 Returning EDGE Faculty awards of $400

Spring 2024 EDGE Faculty Awards:

  • 3 New EDGE Faculty awards of $650
  • 2 Returning EDGE Faculty awards of $400

New EDGE Faculty = Faculty who have not yet delivered an EDGE collaborative project

Returning EDGE Faculty = Faculty who have previously completed an EDGE project

Award Requirements:

  • Submission of this EDGE Faculty Awards AY 2023-2024 form
  • Department head email providing approval of EDGE project forwarded to Tracy.Coleman@psu.edu
  • International partner email providing confirmation of participation in EDGE project forwarded to Tracy.Coleman@psu.edu

Timeline:
If provisionally selected, faculty must complete the EDGE project and submit the EDGE Post-Project Form by Friday, May 17, 2024 in order to receive award. The EDGE Post-Project Form will be sent to documented faculty at the end of each semester.

 Preference given to:

  • First-time EDGE award applicants
  • Applicants returning with same partner as previous EDGE projects
  • Inclusion of Global Learning objective(s) and assessment in course syllabus
  • Topics related to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • EDGE projects completed in languages other than English
  • Projects with Penn State Global Strategic Partners:
    • Monash University
    • The University of Auckland
    • University of Freiburg

Center for Global Studies + EDGE Awards AY 2023-2024

Exclusively for Penn State Faculty

The Penn State 
Center for Global Studies (CGS) is proud to support the Penn State EDGE program as a result of the Title VI National Resource Center (NRC) grant. The NRC grant provides funding to promote language and area or international studies through instruction, research, and training. 


The Center is contributing funds for purchasing EDGE teaching materials and for EDGE mini-grants in AY 2023-2024. These mini-grants are designed to support the professional development of EDGE faculty as they create and implement their individual projects.

 

EDGE Teaching Materials

  • Awards up to $250 each for materials defined as “supplies” (tangible personal property)
  • Note: CGS has final approval of teaching material
  • Note: Subscriptions to virtual classroom experiences are permissible

EDGE Mini-Grants:

  • Registration fees up to $500 each for conference attendance relating to EDGE project/research
  • Note: Priority given to those presenting at conference about EDGE project/research

The application form can be used to apply for both awards, either submitted individually or together.

Timeline:

  • Application review begins on rolling basis
  • Recipient notification begins September 15, 2023
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all awards are distributed by August 14, 2024

IVEC Call for Proposals

The International Virtual Exchange Consortium is excited to begin accepting your submissions for IVEC 2024 beginning on Wednesday, March 20th!

IVEC 2024 will be a fully virtual event from October 21-24, 2024.

IVEC invites proposal submissions from individuals, institutions, and organizations around the world focused on virtual exchange. IVEC welcomes proposals from virtual exchange practitioners (instructors, staff, and administrators) as well as students who have participated in virtual exchange.

Exploring Frontier cultures: Ancient and Modern Perspectives in Caucasia, Ukraine and the Balkans

Date: 19-20 October, 2024
Location: Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi

Historians and archeologists grapple with understanding the cohesive threads binding the societies of Caucasia, Ukraine and the Balkans admits global political upheavals. This conference seeks to convene the international scholarly community and emerging researchers to enrich the study and evaluate the impact of perspectives across historical, contemporary, and interdisciplinary realms.

We invite presentations on various facets of cultural, economic, political, or religious studies, embracing topics such as:

  • Dynamics of Cultural Evolution
  • Shifting Perspectives and National Identity
  • Negotiating Allegiance and Identity
  • Cultural Exchange: Shared Beliefs, Norms, and Values
  • Linguistic Christianization: Conceptual implications
  • Evolution of Visual Representations
  • Global trade networks and Trans-Regional Interconnections
  • Perspectives in impacts, Experience, Engagement and Audience

We encourage both in-person and online representations. Collaborations and innovative proposals are highly encouraged.

Papers should be 15 minutes in duration and delivered in English. Selected papers will be considered for publication in a university periodical.
